ISRAEL

“It did a lot for me. Being from Israel, living In America, and touring the world, I realized many things. The main reason for my trips to Israel and Europe was not to relax, but to take count of where I came from, where I am now and where I want to go from here.”

- Hershel in a letter to his parents in 1975

Friends Of IDF (FIDF) - Impact Scholarships

IMPACT! Scholarship program provides scholarships to brave, IDF combat and combat support veterans from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds pursuing higher education. HFF sponsors ten tuition scholarships annually. Each scholar is supported for four years of undergraduate studies.

Friends Of United Hatzalah

United Hatzalah's core mission is to provide immediate lifesaving medical intervention during the critical window between the onset of an emergency and the arrival of traditional ambulance assistance. In the past decade United Hatzalah has reduced average nationwide response time in Israel from 20 minutes down to just three minutes. HFF sponsors medical equipment and two ambucycles annually to support their continued expansion and goal to decrease emergency response times to 90 seconds or less.

Our Israel Story

Hershel Harry Herrendorf was born in Haifa, Israel on July 8, 1949 to Samuel and Pola Herrendorf, courageous survivors of the second world war.  The first son to Samuel and Pola, Hershel was shortly followed two years later by younger brother Joshua. Hershel and Joshua spent an idyllic childhood, with their parents in Haifa, a place he reminisced on fondly later in life to his parents. Our family continues Hershels legacy of philanthropy in Haifa and Israel, as a way to commemorate the start of his life and our family.

Day of lifesaving sponsored by HFF in memory of Hershel Herrendorf.
